3rd PUP Group Painting Session Held
March 3, 2011The Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Visual Arts Office, University Center for Culture and the Arts, Lakandayang Cultural Association, College of Arts, through the Guhit Sudlungan Visual Arts Group organized the 3rd PUP Group Painting Session on February 26, 2011 at the PUP Freedom Park, Mabini Campus, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The event which produced around 20 collaborative paintings gathered around 100 students. The students were made to paint using coffee as their medium. The Guhit Sudlungan artists, lead by Arnold Lalongisip, who facilitated the activity guided the students to use the traditional medium to its full potential. This was to emphasize the event’s mission of using non-harmful painting materials in doing artworks. The event also stressed that painting materials which are synthetically and industrially produced could harm the environment and that concept of beauty and aesthetics must not be dependent on them.
With the success of the activity, the 4th PUP Group Painting Session is already an activity worth waiting in 2012.
